Tour 4 - Celebrity Haven The Tennis Club Neighborhood
Wednesday 9:30 am
The regular Walking Tour Season ends April 15, 2017 and will resume again in October. During the summer months you can arrange a private tour by calling the museum at 760-323-8297.
Visit the famed Palm Springs Tennis Club neighborhood nestled into the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains. Here's where stars like Errol Flynn, Lucille Ball, and Frank Sinatra stayed and played in the spectacular beauty of its desert surroundings. Today's Hollywood hipsters (Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., and Reese Witherspoon, among others) continue to use this neighborhood's boutique hotels as their private sanctuaries and get an inside look at how Modernism took center stage in this celebrity haven.
See close-up the inns and resorts that were, and remain today, hideaways for the Stars. Many were designed and built after WWII when America's appetite for Modern design was the rage. It was "The Atomic Age" and Palm Springs captured the futuristic mood like no other place on earth.
