“Hollywood Party – Nobody Sleeps Tonight”
Hollywood history — the fashion, the faces, and all the red-carpet glamour of decades past — comes to life with the archival collection of Academy Award–winning costume designer Helen Rose.
Costumes worn by some of the biggest names of the silver-screen Golden Age, including Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Cyd Charisse, Lena Horne, Judy Garland, and more, will be featured on the runway, followed by a spectacular runway collection from red-carpet designer Gustavo Cadile.
Designer Helen Rose - Classic designs that could be worn today
The Academy Award-winning costume designer won Oscars for "The Bad and the Beautiful" in 1952 and "I'll Cry Tomorrow" in 1955. Nominated an additional eight times she was a favorite among the famed and wealthy. She also was trusted to design the wedding dresses of many, including Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier of Monaco and Elizabeth Taylor to Conrad Nicky Hilton.
Among the designs that endeared her to film fans was the sensual white V-neck cocktail dress Elizabeth Taylor wore in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" that became all the fashion rage.
After MGM, Rose sold both custom and ready to wear at her House of Helen Rose, her lines were sold across the country into the 1970s at high end department stores such as Bonwit Teller, Robinson's and I Magnin.
